Yard Cleanup in Carrollton, GA

This is the job where I show up and the yard does not look like a yard yet. It is a different animal from a weekly cut and I price and plan it differently, because there is no way to know what is in there until I walk it.

The usual reasons people call

• A storm came through. West Georgia gets real wind, and what it leaves behind is limbs down, a shredded canopy of small branches across the whole lawn, and pine tops snapped out.
• A rental is turning over. Somebody moved out, nobody touched it for a couple of months, and now it needs to look lettable in a hurry.
• A property is going on the market.The outside is the first photo and the first impression, and an overgrown yard reads as a neglected house whether or not that is fair.
• Life happened. Illness, a new baby, a stretch of work travel, a place that belonged to a parent. This is more common than any of the others and nobody needs to explain it to me.

How I work through one

I walk the property first, before anything starts. Tall grass hides things — landscape timbers, a stump, an old clothesline anchor, irrigation heads, chunks of concrete, and on a rental, genuinely anything. Hitting one of those at speed is how you destroy a mower deck and how somebody gets hurt. So I look before I cut, always.

Then it comes down in stages. Grass that is knee high does not go straight to finish height — it clumps into wet mats that smother whatever is alive underneath. It gets knocked down, then taken lower on a second pass, and generally the clippings need clearing rather than leaving.

After that it is the edges, which is where overgrowth actually shows: the fence line, around the shed, along the drive where the turf has crept out over the concrete, and the beds that have gone to weed and volunteer saplings. Brush and limbs get piled and hauled.

What it will and will not look like afterwards

Straight answer: after a heavy cleanup the lawn usually looks rough for a few weeks. Grass that has been shaded out by its own overgrowth comes back pale and patchy, and anything that was smothered under a mat of wet growth may be dead rather than dormant. That is not something I can cut my way out of in a day, and I would rather you hear it from me up front than be disappointed after.

What it will look like is under control — tidy edges, clear beds, debris gone, and a yard that can now be maintained normally instead of fought. Where bare ground is left behind, I will tell you what I think it needs rather than guess at it.
